How can you to turn environmental challenges into a competitive advantage? The world we live in today has fundamentally changed from the one in which we grew up. A world of six billion people is having unprecedented impacts on the environment. These impacts are likely to create unanticipated problems, such as sick buildings, rising energy costs, new regulations on chemicals and wastes, and shifting consumer expectations. Leading companies, communities and governments are beginning to recognize that new business models and strategies are required. By preventing environmental problems and implementing positive solutions for those that do occur businesses are avoiding costs that their competitors incur as well as protecting the health of their customers and the planet. They have already shifted their perspective from viewing the environment as a cost or risk factor to an opportunity - a source of competitive advantage.
Sustainable Step New England (SSNE), a nonprofit organization, will offer a dynamic, interactive workshop that will provide participants with immediate benefits, including: · A comprehensive understanding of environmental issues and an ability to predict what issues will be critical for your organization in the future· Understanding how to apply The Natural Step Framework, which defines sustainability from an environmental and social perspective and can be used in making strategic and operational decisions and measuring progress· Key questions to ask to stimulate innovative thinking for improving your profits through increased resource efficiency, alternative business models, and other strategies· Ideas on how to integrate a new mindset into your organization, including engaging employees in improvement efforts and overcoming organizational barriers · A guest speaker panel of business leaders who are successfully adopting sustainable practices in their businesses· New connections to other businesspeople who are working to find ways to "do well by doing good"
What impresses me most about Natural Step training is the innovative thinking that results after a single day of exposure to the basic principles. - Sarah Hill, Manager, Arthur D. Little, Inc.
The workshop provided a sounding board for ideas and was a terrific introduction to ecological concepts and principles. - Peter Nobile, Associate & Ecological Design Advocate, Shepley, Bullfinch, Richardson & Abbott (architecture firm)
