Engaging People
and Promoting Positive Change
DATE:
Thurs., January 16, 2003
TIME: 2:00--5:00 p.m.; networking reception to follow from 5:00--6:00 p.m.
LOCATION: New England Aquarium Conference Center, Central Wharf, Boston, MA
Have you to tried to engage someone in adopting a change and met with responses
like "it will never work here" or "we tried that before"?
Then this workshop, facilitated by Paul Lipke of Sustainable Step New England
(SSNE), is for you! You’ll learn the what, why, when and how of Strategic
Questioning so you can learn to uncover hidden potential, uncertainties, and
assumptions in yourself and in others. You'll discover how questions can be a
powerful tool for learning and inspiring positive change.
This event will be very interactive, with plenty of time to practice framing
strategic questions in a group problem-solving exercise known as a 'Mind Meld.'
Mind Melds help generate sustainable solutions to real world organizational,
social, and environmental challenges.
Paul Lipke is the Director of Programs and Training with SSNE, a non-profit
dedicated to increasing the number and effectiveness of people and
organizations working for a sustainable society by providing them with the
community of support, knowledge, tools and resources they need to take
meaningful action. Paul’s passion is helping people: 1) figure out what
global trends will mean for their situation, and 2) uncover the kernels of
wisdom they and their stakeholders hold deep inside. Then he helps them unleash
and increase their collective capacity to act on that knowledge and wisdom. He
has assisted many organizations, including Harvard University, Connecticut's
Department of Environmental Protection, Franklin County Community Development
Corp., UMass Amherst, as well as many individuals.
